August 2017

A month with a Lunar and a Solar Eclipse and Mercury retrograde is guaranteed to produce a few surprises and glitches. Eclipses always produce a sense of heightened awareness, as if significant events were about to challenge the status quo. Part of the eclipse effect is to prod everyone into making changes in their lives, to throw away old attitudes and foster new growth in the area of life ruled by the house(s) in which the eclipse falls. They come round every six months to remind us that life should not be static.

The Leo Sun till the 22nd, accompanied by Mars, will make it a sociable, confident, assertive and noisy time as all of Leo’s attention-demanding tendencies get a boost. The Jupiter Pluto square on the 4th is also no shrinking violet and may lead to over-confidence and bullying behaviour. The powerful eclipsed Full Moon in Aquarius on the 7th demands that a better balance be found, between opposites – independence and interdependence, detail and grand plans, home and career, loved ones and friends, doing and being. Then a happy-go-lucky Jupiter sextile the Sun on the 10th will boost morale and bring luck in small ways.

Venus in Cancer till the 26th will make for indulgent moments at home or with the family, although will be sensitive to slights and mood swings.

The Solar Eclipse in the final degree of Leo on the 21st, is a powerful New Moon, though this one could be low energy and prone to muddled thinking with false information coming in. Then the Sun moves into earthy, sensible Virgo for four weeks, to get hard work under way and practical matters resolved. It won’t all be duty however as both Venus and Mercury before the months’ end move into flamboyant, entertaining Leo.
