Heavenly Headlines

February 2017

A Lunar and a Solar Eclipse this month will make it one filled with anticipation. Eclipses lay down a challenge to change life in some way, usually in the chart area ruled by the house in which it falls. It can feel like a crisis but in reality it’s an opportunity to upgrade and improve that area if the right steps are taken and followed through. Out in the world they usually accompany significant events.

The Aquarius Sun until the 18th is well supported by good aspects from lively Uranus, lucky and successful Jupiter, and sensible Saturn; with the Lunar Eclipse in Leo/Aquarius giving a wake-up call around the 11th. Since this is an especially powerful Full Moon, the hint is to find a better balance in life.

Venus in romantically upfront Aries from the 3rd will add a splash of adventure to love and social activities. Mercury in inquiring, stubborn and argumentative Aquarius from the 7th will keep conversations lively.

The Pisces Sun from the 18th for four weeks will be more emotional, self-protective and creative. It won’t appreciate the hard and aggressive Mars in Aries square Pluto on the 22nd which is usually frustrating, enraging, trapped and sometimes risky. By the Solar Eclipse (New Moon) on the 26th the mood will be volatile. The Eclipse itself promises pleasant surprises, but there’s a disruptive Mars square Uranus and over-confident opposition to Jupiter the next day, so the good news may take a few days to percolate through. Eclipses have an effect for several months ahead.

In past times of Pluto in Capricorn (approximately every 250 years) there was territorial domination on a grand scale by charismatic leaders and ultimately a time of culture, learning, justice and prosperity.

January 2017

The New Year opens on the 1st with a Mars conjunct Neptune in Pisces which can be creative, ethereal, glamorous but will most likely go the other way to be an energy slump with paralysed activity. It just depends which planet takes the lead. Mars can make Neptune’s dreams come true; or Neptune can undercut Mars’ dynamic energy and morale. Venus joins both in Pisces from the 3rd till early February which is romantic, daydreamy, kind but not always realistic.

Luckily the practical Capricorn Sun holds sway until the 19th, admittedly having to push through a few hoops with a challenging conjunction to Pluto on the 7th followed by a jolting square to Uranus on the 10th. Happily Jupiter follows along by the 12th to boost morale and sprinkle a little luck around.

Mars continues in watery Pisces, not its happiest sign, until nearly the month’s end, forming a tough-minded sextile to Pluto on the 11th and an irritable, accident-prone square to Mars on the 19th. Then with great relief it accelerates into Aries on the 28th to stay till early March, sweeping all obstacles to one side.

By that time the Sun from the 19th has moved into airy, communicative, stubborn Aquarius for four weeks.

PLANETARY ASPECTS:

1: Mars conjunct Neptune in Pisces – inspiring or lack-lustre

3: Venus into Pisces till February 3rd – a true romantic, seductive, sympathetic, but prone to building castles in the air and getting disappointed, self-protective emotionally.

Mercury sextile Venus – whispering sweet nothings in the right ear, harmonious.

4: Mercury retrogrades into Sagittarius till the 12th – outspoken, lively chats.

7: Sun conjunct Pluto in Capricorn – slow going a few days before, pushing against resistance or obstacles. Takes real effort to achieve goals.

8: Mercury direct in Sagittarius – communication glitches and delays disappear.

10: Sun square Uranus in Aries – sudden surprises, no one wants to compromise.

11: Mars in Pisces sextile Pluto – depth insights bring solution to problem. Effort required.

12: Sun square Jupiter in Libra – confident, optimistic, lazy.

Full Moon in Cancer – pulled in two directions.

Mercury into Capricorn till February 7th – talking focussed towards practical ends, realistic.

Venus conjunct Neptune – compassionate, disappointed in love.

19: Mars square Saturn in Sagittarius – impatient as delays and setbacks pile up. Passive aggressive. Grit teeth, then explode.

Sun into Aquarius for four weeks – inventive, tech-minded, wanting to chat, explore, friendly.

20: Venus sextile Pluto – persuasive, sociable, seductive.

23: Mercury sextile Neptune – vague, evasive, kind.

27: Venus square Saturn – cool romantically, separated in love, sophisticated.

28: New Moon in Aquarius – focussed

Mars into Aries till March 10th – full steam ahead, not sensitive or tactful, but will waken life up.

29: Mercury conjunct Pluto – intense chats, dogmatic, negative.

Jupiter in Libra from September 9th 2016 until October 11 2017 – keen on reaching better agreements with others, that are fair to all, expansive for one-to-one partnerships.

Saturn: In Sagittarius from September 19th 2015 till late 2017 – serious about knowledge, education, legal matters, religion. Defensive about criticism, self-righteous.

Uranus: In Aries from 1 March 2011 till 2018 – hyper-active, energetic, determined to make new starts even if it means upsetting people, go ahead.

Neptune: In Pisces from February 2012 for thirteen years – religious, spiritual, has resonances with Muslim history.

Pluto: In Capricorn for sixteen years from Nov 2008 till 2024 = complete deconstruction and reconstruction of global economic and commercial structures and systems, as well as major changes in way in which governments work. In past times of Pluto in Capricorn (approximately every 250 years) there was territorial domination on a grand scale by charismatic leaders and ultimately a time of culture, learning, justice and prosperity.

December 2016

After a lacklustre start, the month zips up with more enthusiasm and then runs into a few delays and setbacks. The adventurous Sagittarius Sun will be undermined by Neptune, and restricted by Saturn, but given a morale boost by Jupiter. So the first half will be one step forward and one back. Luckily Mercury in practical Capricorn will sort out a few tangles. And a friendly Venus in Aquarius after the 7th will make parties and leisure activities fun. Taking the rough with the smooth will help. After mid month Mars moves out of outspoken Aquarius into creative and sensitive Pisces till late January. This will foster artistic activities especially physical ones like dance, and be less confrontational than of late.

The Capricorn Sun after the 21st for four weeks is renowned for being a workaholic but it also has an earthy, super-indulgent streak which will also want out to play. Two notable influences mark the final days. One is Saturn trine Uranus which suggests that new plans can be put into gear which marry the best of the old with the best of the new. No tremendous upheavals, just steady progress of a constructive variety. And Jupiter opposing Uranus which is lively, lucky, risk-taking and usually relieves tension.

November 2016

The high stress of October will recede with the Scorpio Sun getting a more sensible grip on life and Mars causing less in the way of upsets and aggravations. There will still be an intense mood since Scorpio never lightens up entirely but a soft touch from Neptune on the 1st and a persuasive sextile from Pluto on the 7th will make for a relatively clear run. Venus in adventurous Sagittarius will give a fun, sociable and flirtatious day on the 5th. Mars then moves into talkative Aquarius on the 9th for six weeks. There will be robust opinions sprayed around and at times an obstinate refusal to compromise but nothing too dramatic.

Three days later Venus moves into sophisticated, socially ambitious Capricorn staying for three weeks. OCTOBER 2016

A challenging month lies ahead with the Libra Sun in hard aspect to Pluto and Uranus, followed later by Mars in Capricorn picking up the same two outer planets. There will be some high points with a confidence surge on the 5th, but there’ll also be blockages and tensions up to the 7th, with sudden changes of circumstances and surprises mid month as Uranus kicks in.

Mercury in tactful Libra will do its best to smooth round rough edges and bring positive thinking to bear on tricky dilemmas. But even it falls foul of argumentative Mars, intense Pluto and outspoken Uranus between the 13th and 20th.

Venus in Scorpio will be playing its cards close to its chest as usual up to the 18th, hiding deep feelings behind a charming smile. But it will manipulate and seduce to get its own way. Thereafter in adventurous Sagittarius, it’ll be more outgoing and friendly.

The Mars Pluto conjunction on the 19th, will have a run up of frustrations, power struggles, irritation and a sense of being trapped. It’ll call for perseverance and courage and stolid determination. That is followed 10 days later by Mars squaring Uranus, which will be all of a package with Mars Pluto – so there will be accidents, confrontations, disruptions.
