Yods and sods – the mills of justice grind slowly

‘With one bound he was free’

Boris Johnson has yet another golden opportunity to test his stupefying, confounding and astounding Road-Runner capacity to survive death-defying near misses and stay on his feet. Now there is news that his erstwhile squeeze Jennifer Arcuri has handed over vital documents to an inquiry into whether he abused his position as London mayor to “benefit and reward” her. Could he be undone finally by a Yod or two?

Arcuri was given access to foreign trade missions led by the future prime minister and sponsorship for her events business, raising questions about conflicts of interest. She is also said to be cooperating fully with a separate investigation that raises the prospect of Johnson facing an investigation for a potential criminal offence of misconduct in public office. The Observer revealed last year that he had allegedly overruled the advice of staff to promote the business interests of Arcuri and win her affections. A previous investigation decided not to open a criminal inquiry but that inquiry did not have access to her handwritten diary entries and was hampered by the deletion of key email and phone records at City Hall that prevented the watchdog from “reviewing relevant evidence”.

Jennifer Arcuri, 26 February 1985 (companies house), Kentucky, has a passionately enthusiastic Venus Mars conjunction in Aries which sits in Boris’s 7th house so a hot liaison definitely fits; and her Jupiter squares his Moon with her Pluto conjunct his Moon – so there would be intense feelings initially. Her Taurus Moon may conjunct his Jupiter for ditto. But her Saturn in determined Scorpio sitting in Boris’s financial 2nd and opposition his afflicted Mars is a definite no-no. And her Pisces Sun conjunct his Saturn and opposition his Uranus Pluto square Mars makes for a bizarre pairing. Her Neptune is also conjunct his South Node which doesn’t indicate she would persuade him to be a better person. It does slightly suggest she played him.

What is fascinating is their relationship chart which has two Yods. An exact Neptune sextile Pluto inconjunct Mars; and a wide-ish Yod of Venus sextile Jupiter inconjunct Uranus. The first Yod was rattled by tr Saturn square tr Uranus last year and just before. But it is the second Yod which is being destabilized this year with tr Pluto square the apex planet Uranus from exactly now, on and off till late 2023; with an additional swampy dip from the middle of this coming May as tr Neptune undercuts enthusiasm as it is conjunct the Jupiter on one leg of the Yod  – and that runs on and off into 2023 as well.

Carrie also looks less than enamoured with Jen across the May elections and beyond.

A gift that just keeps on giving.

[ Dominic Cummings, another Martian Yodal link to Boris, has just been quoted as saying in an interview with a New York magazine that removing Boris was ‘like clearing the drains.’ Oops. Ouch.]

Virginia Thomas – her activism a threat to SCOTUS

Virginia Thomas, the vocal right-wing wife of Supreme Court judge Clarence Thomas is coming under increasing scrutiny as the Supreme Court plummets to its lowest level ever approval rating over a perception that it is becoming overly politicized. She is working with many groups directly involved in controversial cases on abortion, affirmative action, and gun rights amongst other before the Court. She is a Trump supporter and has declared that America is in existential danger because of the “deep state” and the “fascist left,” which includes “transsexual fascists.” She was vocal on social media prior to January 6th praising those who were ‘standing up’ but removed the posts immediately after.

Stephen Gillers, a law professor at N.Y.U. and a prominent judicial ethicist said, “I think Ginni Thomas is behaving horribly, and she’s hurt the Supreme Court and the administration of justice.’

She was born 23 February 1957 in Omaha, Nebraska into a family known for its extreme views; and after graduating law she fell in with a cultish self-help group, Lifespring. She and Thomas married in 1987. ‘As a woman clashing with the women’s movement, she had found much in common with Thomas, who opposed causes supported by many Black Americans.’

Jane Mayer has an exhaustively researched piece on her in the New Yorker, January 21 2022.

Virginia is a Sun Pisces trine Neptune which fits well with Clarence’s Cancer Sun, Mercury, Venus square Neptune. What is less obvious is how they survive her bulldozer Mars in Taurus which falls conjunct his IC, making their domestic life a noisy affair, and worse squares his Saturn Pluto in his 7th.  Mind you with Saturn Pluto in his 7th he was bound to be attracted to a hard, warrior partner.

Their relationship chart does have an affectionate Sun Venus conjunction with Venus trine Pluto and Sun opposition Jupiter – so there would an attraction. But there is also an explosive composite Uranus Mars square Saturn Neptune which looks highly uncomfortable and prone to blow fuses.

The good feelings between them are looking a touch deflated at the moment perhaps because of the New Yorker piece; there will be major jolts, in his case, relating to his partner, making them emotionally conflicted over the next two years.  She’ll be rattled badly from June onwards with tr Uranus conjunct her Mars.

Her relations with Chief Justice John Roberts are difficult at best and running into turbulent times from this month onwards, worsening dramatically in 2023.  Her relationship chart with SCOTUS points to the same conclusion with major confusion in 2022/23 and complete disruption come 2023/24.

Clarence Thomas will stay reasonably upbeat in 2022/23 but he’s sliding into a less successful, less visible phase of his life/career which will become increasingly obvious from 2023 onwards.

Transgenerational trauma – a curse down through the ages

This isn’t astrological but a question popped up after the discussion on intergenerational trauma asking about studies on African Americans.

The concept first arose with children of Holocaust survivors in the 1960s, whose parents came out of the camps and most often said nothing of their experiences. It was not as widely written about then as it is now so the children knew little of what had gone on. Yet in some cases they lived out their parents’ trauma as if it had happened to them. And there were similar psychological effects down into a third generation. Since then studies have widened to include African-Americans forced into slavery, Native American genocide survivors, war survivors, refugees, survivors of domestic violence.

In his 1952 semi-autobiographical novel Go Tell it on the Mountain, the esteemed African American author James Baldwin asked the question “Could a curse come down so many ages? Did it live in time, or in the moment?”

‘The curse of African American slavery cannot be underestimated; the trauma of enslavement has been carried by African Americans through the ages and generations and is currently shown in many of the health problems experienced by a significant proportion of the African American population in the US.

Negative physical, psychological, and social health conditions of African Americans in general. For example, research shows the incidence of diabetes, high blood pressure, premature death from heart disease, and prostate cancer are generally double among adult African Americans compared to White Americans. African Americans experience significantly higher psychological stress and PTSD, and these are related to depressive symptoms, poor self-rated health, functional physical limitations and chronic illness. Similar comparisons of social health show homicide rates are higher, black men are 5 times more likely to be incarcerated than Whites (5 percent of the African American male population are incarcerated in many American states), and illicit drug use and rates of intimate partner violence are highest among African Americans.’

African American Health and Posttraumatic Slave Syndrome: A Terror Management Theory Account

The —- impact of slavery was a significant trauma to African American people, which was carried forward through successive generations; providing an explanation of their current anxiety-related conditions, poor health, and maladaptive behaviors.

Poor parenting, connected to the master-slave relationship as the template for all human relationships; the dominant one parent family structure created by slavery; and transgenerational haunting.

Growing consensus in the scientific community that trauma is passed down through generations in DNA.

Barry Cryer – chuckling through a long life

Barry Cryer, the comedian and comedy writer for everyone from The Two Ronnies and Morecambe and Wise to a long list of notables – Dave Allen, Stanley Baxter, Jack Benny, Rory Bremner, George Burns, Jasper Carrott, Tommy Cooper, Ronnie Corbett, Les Dawson, Dick Emery, Kenny Everett, Bruce Forsyth, David Frost, Bob Hope, Frankie Howerd, Richard Pryor, Spike Milligan and Mike Yarwood – has died.

He seems to have been universally liked in the business as well as an accomplished performer. Though like many comics his chart was not as easy as his personality sounds. He was born 23 March 1935 3am Leeds and had a successful Jupiter in the 10th in a confident trine to Pluto in an out-of-sign trine to a sharp-witted, communicative 3rd house Aries Sun. It would give him talent and a lucky touch. His intense Scorpio Moon would be mellowed by an opposition to Venus in Taurus, though Venus was conjunct Uranus and square his 7th house Pluto – so he would be quite controlling. And his Pluto was even more emphasized having a Mars opposition Uranus in square. There was a volatile, quite explosive side to him which he would keep well under wraps. Though Mars Uranus can also contribute to a quirky take on life.

He also had the creative and sympathetic Neptune opposition Saturn Mercury of that mid 1930s generation.

His father died when he was five which may explain his Sun, Mars Uranus square Pluto. His Neptune in the 8th would give him an ability to project an aura out into the zeitgeist and such a strong Pluto would make him an influencer par excellence.

He married in 1962 and stayed married, having four children, seven grandchildren and one great grandchild when he died.

Political smoke – and a serendipitous police inquiry

Various questions spring to mind about the delay to Sue Gray’s Boris Partygate report or its dilution to the point of worthlessness  after police demanded there should be ‘minimal reference’ to lockdown breaches in it, which they are now – belatedly and mysteriously – investigating as potentially criminal. Is it a government/Boris tactic to duck out yet again since it pushes any judgements weeks if not months ahead – and if so why are the Met allowing themselves to be danced on a party political string? Why didn’t the Met take action at the time since their officers were in situ and would have known? Why did Home Secretary Priti Patel leave Cressida Dick as Met head after a long catalogue of disasters and controversies – the Daniel Morgan murder, Sarah Everard, Operation Midland (Carl Beech paedophile fantasist) amongst others.

And coming at it from another angle – is Cressida Dick any more likely than any other civil servant to want to topple a government, especially one to whom she owes her continued existence in the top job? When did the UK become so like the United States?

Cressida Dick, 16 October 1960, is a Sun Libra on the focal point of a (very) lucky Mini Grand Trine of Jupiter trine Uranus. She also has a hard-bitten Mars in Cancer opposition Saturn. Her Mars does sit almost exactly on Boris’s midheaven which can bring a competitive interface though also a strong professional bond. Her Mercury in Scorpio is conjunct Boris’s Neptune and opposition his Jupiter so she will be susceptible to his amiable schtick and believe the best of him.

Her Term chart, 11 April 2017, is in panic-mode this month to mid February and will be destabilized within three months as the Solar Arc Pluto squares the Uranus, which can be a sudden exit. One scenario is Boris going and his replacement replacing her. Her own personal chart indicates April to be a month of turbulence and disruption.  But she shares Boris’s ability to rise above any failure and keep trucking so who knows?

The Metropolitan Police chart is not having a good year with a panicky sense of failure from late February onwards. And Cressida Dick’s relationship with it looks even less settled with a sullen mood from March onwards and jolts and jangles in April and beyond.

PS Apologies for more Boris – it is getting like Trump.

Xiomara Castro – fixing ‘broken’ Honduras

Honduras has sworn in their first female president, Xiomara Castro, who has promised to fix the “broken” country which is a world leader in murder, killing of women, major drug trafficking problems, high level corruption and also has strict abortion laws. Her husband Manuel Zelaya, ruled Honduras for three years until he was ousted by a couple in 2009.

Kamala Harris attended the swearing in ceremony bringing the  Biden administration hopes that the new president will fight the corruption, poverty and violence that help fuel illegal immigration to the US.

Born 30 September 1959, Xiomara Castro is a Sun Libra, which fits both the Honduras country charts; with a tough-minded Pluto Venus in Virgo trine Saturn sextile Neptune and a pushily confident Jupiter in Scorpio square Pluto.

She starts her term on the back foot with internal wrangles in her own party – and her Term chart (time twitter?) looks erratic with  Uranus square Saturn Sun and trine Venus Mars. She will be determined to push through reforms but it will be a winding path ahead with a run of calamities from this May onwards into 2023.

The Honduras 29 September 1578 JC chart has a Sun Jupiter conjunction in Libra opposition Mars in Aries square Saturn in Capricorn opposition Neptune so was always destined to have a dramatic and high-risk destiny. It has been through testing times in the last decade with tr Uranus square tr Pluto hitting on the Cardinal planets – with more to come as the Solar Arc Saturn aims to throw up setbacks as it is conjunct the Mars by 2025, followed by an uncertain square to Neptune in 2027.

The Honduras independence chart, 26 October 1838, has a Sun Scorpio trine Uranus with Jupiter, Venus and Mercury spread out through Libra with Pluto across the zodiac in Aries; plus a hard-edged, risky, murder-prone Mars in Leo square Saturn in Scorpio. Again 2025/26 look disruptive, dangerous years with tr Uranus upending the Saturn square Mars.

Joe Rogan – success comes at any cost

Joe Rogan, the podcaster, described as “one of the most consumed media products on the planet” who signed a $100m deal with Spotify in 2020 for exclusive rights to his show, stays in place. Neil Young, who objected to Rogan’s misleading stance on vaccinations, goes – at considerable cost to himself and to Reprise Records. He said “They can have Rogan or Young. Not both.” And he called Spotify, the music streaming giant as “the home of life-threatening Covid misinformation”, adding: “Lies being sold for money.”

The Joe Rogan Experience is the top podcast on Spotify and reportedly downloaded almost 200 million times a month. Last month, a group of doctors, scientists and healthcare professionals signed an open letter to Spotify citing Rogan’s “concerning history” in discussing the Covid-19 pandemic.

Rogan claims to be libertarian but has been criticised in the past for making transphobic and racist remarks and for his choice of guests including alt-right provocateur Milo Yiannopoulos and conspiracy theorist Alex Jones. He said he was not “an anti-vax person” though he has also been criticised in the US for touting the anti-parasite drug ivermectin as a treatment for coronavirus.

Born 11 August 1967 at 12.05 am Newark, New Jersey, he has a 4th house Sun, Jupiter and Mercury in Leo so although private, he’ll also cherish an audience and isn’t short on confidence or luck.  He also has a hard-working and not altogether aimiable 6th house Mars in Scorpio as well as Neptune, both of which square his Sun so he will be wound-up, intense, inclined to snipe back and enjoys an argument. Jupiter square Neptune may attract him to less than realistic notions. His Libra Moon is also in the 6th and he has suffered odd heath ailments in the past. When he caught covid last year his Solar Arc Pluto was conjunct his Mars; and tr Pluto was hovering around the square to his Moon; and his Progressed Moon was just moving into his 6th house.

In addition he has a chaotic, unpredictable Uranus, Pluto and Venus in his performing 5th house so he’ll be keen to appear as a maverick and convention-breaker. Most significantly he has a Yod of Mars sextile Venus inconjunct Saturn, which is difficult to handle well, requiring maturity and self-control. And his Moon is unaspected giving him a a sense of disconnection and it can be destabilizing emotionally and psychologically.

Tr Uranus is opposing his Mars now and through February, which will rattle his sense of security; plus he has a catastrophic hit on his Mars/Saturn midpoint this month from tr Pluto conjunct, which returns August to November this year. He will have pressures over the next two years but he doesn’t look set back on his heels until 2025 when tr Pluto is conjunct his Midheaven which could bring his reputation crashing down or force a change of direction.

Neil Young, 12 November 1945 6.45am Toronto, Canada, is the complete opposite to Rogan with a Scorpio Sun opposition an Aquarius Moon and square Pluto in Leo, with Mars also in Leo which clashes with Rogan’s Leo planets; and his Saturn in Cancer squares Rogan’s Moon.

Spotify was set up on 23 April 2006 and launched on 7 October 2008. The founding chart has a Taurus Sun square Pluto and Jupiter in Scorpio square Neptune in Aquarius – stubborn, enduring, money minded. The launch chart has a Libra Sun square Jupiter in money-magnet Capricorn and trine Neptune. Both charts look upbeat until 2024 and beyond. The launch chart will be stuck and super-confident at the same time in 2024; and the founding chart gets a double whammy in 2025 of tr Pluto square the Sun and opposition Saturn – all good things run into the buffers at some point.

Joe Rogan from what little I’ve read seems to relish confounding his audience by stoking up controversies to get attention but never settling to any set opinions himself. A contrarian and screamer who has hit a golden seam and has no intention of upsetting his success.  A slippery Neptune will help.

Boris Johnson – puppet dancing on a cliff edge ++ driven by demons from the distant past

Boris Johnson’s exit is set to be as grubby and shambolic as his appearance as he ignores gravity with Trump-like bravado. His mischievous mask is slipping and the underlying nastiness being exposed as he prepares to throw his aides on the bonfire to deflect blame. All of which has been said before and may well be said again before his fingernails are prised from the cliff edge.

Now Sue Gray’s Inquiry findings into the illegal lockdown-busting parties have been kicked into the long grass with the help of a police investigation which will no doubt drag on. And Lord Agnew, the anti-fraud minister’s resignation over the government’s ‘egregious failures’ to tackle issues with covid loans, costing the taxpayer many millions a month, is slipping below the radar.

The Boris Term chart, 13 December 2019, is on a swampy slide with tr Neptune square the Sun exactly this month into mid February; with shocks and insecurity picking up from May as tr Uranus opposes the Mars. What was always going to grind the cogs to a halt was the 12th house Solar Arc Saturn moving to conjunct the Venus (= unpopular) exact within two months though in effect now; and conjunct the Pluto in four months (dead-halt).

What intrigues me astrologically, since all of this is well-trodden ground, is the now-fractured relationship between Boris and Dominic Cummings, his erstwhile chief adviser, as the latter has been fingered lately as spilling the crucial beans leading to the present furore.

When he was appointed in 2019 Matthew Parris wrote presciently in the Times, ‘Dominic Cummings is the sharp‑tongued recruit who could cut Boris Johnson down.’

‘A free spirit who cares not a jot whom he offends or what people think of him. That he will fall out with his new master within months is almost certain. That, when he does, the world will know about it in coruscating language, equally so. In Mr Cummings, he has appointed his own literary executioner.’

The astonishment is Cummings was brought in at all since he’s a Sun Neptune in Sagittarius opposition Saturn in Gemini square Mars in Pisces which clashes mightily with Boris’s Mars, Saturn, Uranus Pluto T square. Both are volcanically angry, capable of spraying venom and/or rage in all directions.

Their relationship chart is a sight to behold. Not only is there a bad-tempered and ratchety composite Mars Saturn North Node conjunction, it is amplified ten fold by being on the focal point of a Yod to Pluto (Uranus) sextile Neptune – if ever there was a bomb waiting to be detonated this was it. As it was it lasted 17 months and could be the key to Boris’s downfall.

Composite Yods – made up of two planets in sextile which pour their energy through skewed quincunxes to a focal point planet – bring about fated changes in one or both lives either by acting jointly to force a radical change of direction or because one triggers unforeseen events which lead to a extreme alteration of the other’s life path. The result is not always negative and it depends on the planets involved.

The Duke of Windsor and Wallis Simpson are a classic example of a disruptive one with a wide-ish Yod of North Node sextile Uranus inconjunct Mars – and they exemplify a Yod in action. Bonnie and Clyde also had a composite Yod onto Mars; and child murderers Ian Brady and Myra Hindley also had a composite Yod onto Uranus from Moon sextile Sun.  Two people drawn together with fateful consequences for both.

Arron Banks, co-founder of Leave (Brexit) and journalist Carole Cadwalladr, at present in court on a defamation suit over allegations he had Russian connections, have two composite Yods in their relationship chart, both involving the ‘public interest’ North Node. Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have a composite Yod of Moon sextile Saturn inconjunct Uranus – and that bonding certainly changed the trajectory of his life in a dramatic way. Donald Trump and son-in-law Jared Kushner, who rose to dizzy heights in charge of everything also have an exact Yod of Pluto sextile Mars inconjunct Mercury in their relationship chart.

Even Boris and Carrie have a Yod in their relationship chart of Pluto sextile Neptune inconjunct Sun, pointing to stratospheric joint ambition.  It is being knocked sideways at the moment by tr Saturn square tr Uranus hitting the focal point Sun, now till early April this year.

Yods in any chart point to an unexpected fork in the road, which can be abrupt – and is fated in the sense of being an ‘unrecognized necessity’, or a couple on a mission. It will always be challenging in a relationship, with tension building up constantly and then releasing.

But it does raise the question of why Boris lands in such fated relationships? Even his liaison when London Mayor with American business woman Jennifer Arcuri, in which he displayed his usual ‘greasy piglet’ ability to escape ignominy, has an eye-curling composite Yod of Neptune sextile Pluto inconjunct Mars. With his dysfunctional upbringing it is hardly surprising he opts for melodramatic relationships so maybe that isn’t the question. What is it about his chart that marks him out as a puppet of the fates?

His relationship chart with the UK does have a weak-ish Yod of Jupiter sextile South Node – and it is probable we might not have ended up with Brexit without Boris. That isn’t an argument for staying, merely that it was his opportunistic intervention which sent the UK down an unexpected path with life and history changing consequences. And surprise, surprise Arron Banks also has a composite Yod with the UK.

Not sure this is more than just an astrological curio but worth pondering.

After all these meanderings, what is worth hanging on to is the astrology of Boris/Cummings maladjusted interface. It may well be the key to what comes next.

Add On: This is a mix of psycho-babble and astrology and a bit of a stretch but bear with me.

Boris has a delusional sense of invulnerability – he can transgress rules that others have to live by and doesn’t suffer their humiliation/ruin.  His school teacher wrote on his report: ‘I think he honestly believes that it is churlish of us not to regard him as an exception, one who should be free of the network of obligation that binds everyone else.’ And he was ‘affronted when criticised for what amounts to a gross failure of responsibility’.

Delusions of grandeur can occur in personality and bi-polar disorders and includes a belief of being infallible or invulnerable, more intelligent than others, thinking that common rules don’t apply to you, acting selfishly, treating others with disdain or contempt, not caring if you hurt someone with your actions, being quick to anger if you are challenged, being unable to see how your behavior affects others.

In his case I suspect there is something additional going on – it’s almost as if he has to deliberately tempt fate time and time again to prove how blessed by the gods he really is. Freud’s repetition compulsion points to an unconscious need to reenact early traumas in the attempt to overcome or master them. Boris clearly had a muddled childhood but my eye is always drawn to his 8th house Mars which is massively afflicted being on the point of a scattergun Mutable T Square to Saturn opposition Uranus Pluto. That points to a driving demon that lies further back in the family line.

The 8th house indicates a direct link to a grandparental or even earlier experience. Studies in intergenerational trauma describe similar psychological coping mechanisms being handed down the family line, whether directly through behaviour or in some unidentified way through genes.

For example three generations of 15 Ukrainian families were studied whose forbears had lived through the 1932 Great Starvation. The coping mechanisms that the direct survivors had developed during the genocide were retained in the family system and passed down to their children and grandchildren. Similar effects have been seen in the descendants, second and third generation, of Holocaust victims.

I have seen clients struggling to disentangle extraordinary difficulties in seemingly ordinary present lives, who had forbears who lived through traumatic experiences. It wouldn’t be something you’d normally expect but there is a definite pattern of lived experience that, consciously or unconsciously, comes down the family line. So this generation is having to cope as if they had lived through the same traumas but often don’t have any conscious knowledge of them, which adds to the stress and confusion.

Boris’s paternal grandfather fled Turkey because his great-grandfather, Ali Kemal, 7 September 1869, was charged with treason. On the way to prison in 1922 he was murdered, hanged from a tree and stoned to death.  And isn’t that just a Mars Pluto Uranus Saturn event.

Certain children in a family for reasons unknown are more open to the family legacy stretching back generations and it may well be that Ali Kemal’s grisly fate has something to do with young Boris’s desperate attempt to live as if he was not bound to a mortal fate – and has managed it pretty well so far, maybe thanks to his Jupiter (= undeserved luck). Ali Kemal had Jupiter Pluto in Taurus so would resonate with Boris, though his luck clearly ran out in the bloodiest way imaginable – if data is accurate when transiting Neptune in Leo was undermining his Jupiter Pluto.

Just a thought to throw into the pot.

Adele – it’s not show time ++ Rich Paul

Adele appears to be in the midst of a total PR trainwreck over her new Vegas show, cancelled with 24 hours notice giving fans no time to recoup travel, accommodation and other expenses. The covid excuse appears to be wearing thin and industry murmurs are that any professional production crew would have known well in advance there were problems. The finger is being pointed at ‘diva’ like Adele behaviour and differences with the renowned stage designer, Es Devlin.

Intriguingly the other top singer with a reputation for being difficult is Barbra Streisand, who like Adele is a Sun Taurus in hard aspect to Pluto – stubborn and controlling.

Adele, 5 May 1988 8.19 am London, is caught in the middle of the tr Saturn square tr Uranus of the moment with it hammering on her Fixed Pluto opposition Jupiter Sun square Mars. Tr Saturn is blocking her progress and dampening her enthusiasm through this month and February;  with tr Uranus causing disruptions opposition her Pluto, repeating from late last year, in early February, and then moving to conjunct her Sun and square her Mars in Aquarius in a turbulent phase until May 2023.

Las Vegas may not prove to be the place of her dreams since relocating her chart there puts Pluto on her Midheaven, exacerbating her controlling tendencies and is usually regarded as unlucky, even risky, and bringing heavy issues.

Es Devlin, the acclaimed English stage designer who has worked on shows for Beyoncé, Kanye West, U2, Pet Shop Boys, the Royal Opera House and designed the 2012 London Olympics closing ceremony and the opening ceremony of the 2016 Rio Olympics,   was born 24 September 1971.

She’s a Sun Libra conjunct Pluto with a creative Jupiter Neptune in Sagittarius opposition Saturn and, like Adele, has Mars in Aquarius. They would not be the most comfortable fit since Es Devlin’s Sun Pluto square Adele’s Moon, Uranus, Saturn. And their relationship chart has a controlling composite Sun Mercury square Pluto; with Pluto in an intense and aggravated trine to Mars Jupiter; plus a volatile, explosive, uncompromising Mars square Uranus. There is also an innovative Sun trine Uranus trine Saturn so it could have been – and may still be – a tour de force. But not a relationship where egos can get out of hand without causing damage.

Adele at the moment has tr Pluto poised on the cusp of her 8th house for a longish stay of many years ahead which can feel heavy, trapped, financially as well as emotionally. She also has her Solar Arc Mars conjunct her 10th house Pisces North Node exactly – so maybe is learning lessons about not sliding back into her perfectionist, nit-picky Virgo South Node. Tr Jupiter is moving through her 10th until May 2023 so she should be having success though tr Uranus and tr Saturn are clearly upsetting her best laid plans.

ADD ON: Rich Paul, her latest beau, a sports agent, 16 December 1981, has also been brought into the furore. He has his Sun Neptune in Sagittarius conjunct her Moon and Uranus, which is great and not so great; with his Venus in Aquarius chiming with her Venus in Gemini and in a passionate square to her Pluto. But it’s not remotely settled at a domestic level with his Mars falling in her 4th and squaring her Saturn, Uranus, Moon so there will be fiery clashes.

All of which is reflected in the relationship chart with a possessive and ambitious Sun trine Pluto, sextile Neptune; an argumentative Sun square Mars; a volatile, no-compromise Mars Uranus conjunction; plus a tussle-for-the-upper-hand Jupiter square Pluto.  There’s maybe also a composite doubly-possessive Moon Pluto conjunction. It’s an intense, power-packed connection but riddled with contradictions and undercurrents.
